Mr. Keyes' topic for the evening was "Winning in Today's Volatile Economic
Climate - Achieving profitable growth while satisfying the changing needs of the
convenience store customer".
7-Eleven, Inc. (NYSE: SE) is the premier name
and largest chain in the convenience retailing industry and is observing its 75th
anniversary in 2002. Headquartered in Dallas, 7-Eleven, Inc. operates or
franchises approximately 5,800 7-Eleven® stores in the United States
and Canada and licenses more than 19,700 7-Eleven stores in 16 other countries
and U.S. territories throughout the world. During 2002, 7-Eleven
stores worldwide generated total sales of more than $33 billion.

Jim
Keyes is President and Chief Executive Officer for 7-Eleven, Inc., the world’s
largest convenience store retailer.
Mr.
Keyes served in a number of senior management positions before being elected to
his current role in 2000. He joined 7-Eleven stores’ former subsidiary Citgo
Petroleum in 1985 as general manager of marketing and business strategy. A year
later, he became general manager of 7-Eleven’s national gasoline, with
responsibility for the company’s retail gasoline business in the United States
and Canada. He was named vice president of national gasoline in 1991. Mr.
Keyes served as the company’s senior financial officer in 1992 and was named
chief financial officer in 1995. He was elected to the company’s board of
directors in 1997 and promoted to executive vice president and chief operating
officer in 1998.
Before joining 7-Eleven, he held various field and corporate positions at Gulf
Oil Corporation.
He
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass.,
where he was named to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated cum laude
in 1977. He also attended the University of London and received a Master’s of
Business Administration degree from Columbia University in New York City.
Mr.
Keyes is founding chairman of Education is Freedom, a public charity dedicated
to helping hard-working young people reach their full potential through higher
education. He serves on the national board of directors of Students in Free
Enterprise (SIFE), the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Latino Initiatives for
the Next Century (LINC) and on the board of trustees for the Boys and Girls
Club. Mr. Keyes also is on the board of directors for the National Association
of Convenience Stores (NACS). He was recognized by the Network of Executive
Women for his efforts to promote diversity in the workplace.
Mr.
Keyes serves in a leadership role within the local Dallas community as well, as
an executive board member of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, a member of
the Dallas Citizens Council and a member of Southern Methodist University’s Cox
School of Business and chairman of the Dallas Symphony Association.
He
and his wife Margo live in Dallas.

insights into doing business

Bombay Way.

Jim Carreker is
Chairman and CEO of Bombay Company, a position he accepted in 2002. Under his
leadership, the company was repositioned and reenergized. Bombay’s total market
cap increased 400 percent during the first nine months of his tenure. Jim
presides over a company that designs, sources and markets a unique line of home
accessories, wall decor and furniture through 471 retail outlets, specialty
catalogs and the Internet in the U.S. and internationally.
Jim grew up in Oklahoma
City and attended Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship. He
graduated in 1970, then earned his MBA (finance) at OSU,
graduating Beta Gamma Sigma in May 1972.
Jim began his career as a management trainee for Dallas-based Sanger-Harris
Department Stores, a $500-million division of Federated Department Stores.
Rising quickly through Sanger's ranks, he held various positions
in operations and finance. He was promoted to president of Burdines
Department Stores in September 1984 at age 37. During his four-year tenure,
Burdines became the second largest profit producer in Federated with sales
exceeding $1 billion.
In May 1988, Jim became managing general partner and president of Wyndham
Hotels and Resorts, an 18-hotel management partnership started by Trammell
Crow. In August 1994, while maintaining his role with Wyndham, Jim became the
third president and CEO of the Trammell Crow Company, a real estate
development and services company that managed $27 billion in real estate. Jim
left Wyndham in October 2000. He then established JDC Holdings, a private
equity investment firm that has primary investments in restaurants, oil and
gas, and technology.
Jim has been vice-chairman of United Way for both Dallas and Miami. Heserved
on the advisory committee of the business school graduate program at Southern
Methodist University and was a member of the Dallas Citizen's CouncilJim is
currently Chairman of the Dallas Housing Authority. He was inducted into the
Hall of Fame for his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi in 2000; Oklahoma State Hotel
School 2001 and Oklahoma State University Alumni Hall of Fame this year. Jim
is married to Barbara Cummins and has two sons by his late wife Jane, Court
(25) and Chris (23). He resides in Dallas and is a member of the Park Cities
Presbyterian Church. He also serves on several boards of directors of large
companies including The Bombay Company.

invests in various retail, restaurant, internet and direct marketing companies.

Cece Smith
is Managing General Partner of Phillips−Smith−Machens Venture Partners of
Dallas, a venture capital firm investing in retail and consumer businesses that
she co−founded in 1986. Phillips-Smith is a $140 million group of venture
capital funds that invests in various retail, restaurant, Internet or direct
marketing companies. Some of the Phillips-Smith portfolio of companies has
included Cheap Tickets, PETsMART, CompUSA, Gadzooks and Jamba Juice.
Previously, Ms. Smith held senior management positions with Pearle Health
Services, the world's largest retail optical chain, as well as S&A Restaurant
Corp., owner of Bennigan's and Steak and Ale. She also served as both a director
and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Ms. Smith
currently serves as a director of Michaels Stores, Inc. and at Brinker
International, and is on the Executive Board of the Edwin L. Cox School of
Business at Southern Methodist University. Ms. Smith has served on the Board of
Brinker since January 2002 and is a member of the Audit, Compensation, and
Governance and Nominating Committees of the Company.

Al is Vice President, Business Development for Retail Forward, Inc. He is
responsible for the sale of Retail Forward's Intelligence Programs, including
the North American Intelligence Program, the Global Intelligence Program and the
E-Retail Intelligence Program. He is also responsible for consulting sales in
the Midwest Region of the U.S. Al also serves as a member of Retail Forward's
Management Committee.
Prior to joining Retail Forward, Al served as Director of Senn-Delaney/Arthur
Andersen's retail strategy practice. He also has 18 years of consulting
experience with the Management Horizons Division of Price Waterhouse where he
assisted retailers and consumer goods suppliers with strategic planning and
marketing strategy.
Al's retail consulting experience includes developing strategies and
implementation plans for improving market positioning, customer focus,
competitive appeals and merchandising economics. Al's experience with consumer
products companies includes marketing, brand strategies, developing retail
distribution strategies, selling new channels, introducing new products and
advising clients on the success requirements for effective implementation of
retail marketing programs.

The Sears Story - Insight to the Past, Present, and Future
Mr. Graham shared an overview of Sears today and the Company's approach
to the leveraging the rich history of its 117 years in retailing with an
ambitions future growth plan for Sears.

Mike Graham is the Vice President and Controller of Sears, Roebuck and
Co., the nation's fifth largest retailer. Mike is a senior
financial executive based in the Sears Chicago area headquarters and
heads the Company's financial accounting, external reporting and
transactional processing teams.

Mr. Turner's topic for the evening is "Managing in Uncertain Times"

Charles Turner was promoted to Executive Vice President in March of
2002. Oversees all aspects
of Finance, Strategic Planning, Investor Relations, The Pier (England),
Cargo Kids,
Information Systems, Treasury, Controller and Tax.
Charles joined Pier 1 Imports in 1992 as Vice President,
Controller.
Prior to joining Pier 1, he served as Group Controller for JC Penney
from 1988 to 1992.
As Group Controller, he worked with various JC Penney
subsidiaries to formulate a business plan and to provide the
controllership function and management information to operate the
enterprise.
Prior to JC Penney, he worked at KPMG Peat Marwick as Senior Manager
from 1979 to 1988.
His responsibilities included auditing and consulting with many
retail and distribution companies including JC Penney, Melville Corp.
and Tiffany.
Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of
Virginia, 1979.
Charles is married and the father of three girls (17,15,13).

Board of Directors for The Elder-Beerman Stores Corp.; Board of
Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth; University
of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce Foundation Board; Jefferson
